Kitchener Foundation Repair is a booking line. It is not a foundation company, and it is not a directory that sells your enquiry to a list of bidders. It connects to one local foundation contractor doing structural work across the city and the Region — the rubble-stone century houses downtown, in Cedar Hill and around Victoria Park, the block-in-clay subdivisions of Forest Heights, Stanley Park and Country Hills, the poured foundations of Doon South and Huron Park, and the same mix in Waterloo, Cambridge, Breslau and New Hamburg.

Foundation repair attracts a particular kind of selling. A homeowner who has found a crack is worried, does not know whether it is serious, and is easy to frighten. So the trade has its share of quotes for steel where carbon fibre would do, piers under a house that is not settling, and structural repairs sold for cracks that only leak. It also has the opposite: a leak sealer applied to a wall that is bowing, so the real problem is hidden behind a patch for five more years.

The point of this site is a straight line to a contractor who measures before quoting, names the method, brings in a professional engineer where the job needs one and says so when it does not, pulls the permit, and tells you plainly when what you have is not a structural problem at all. A crack that leaks but is not moving is a waterproofing contractor's job, and you will be told to call one.

What we will not do: publish reviews we do not have, invent a rating or a star count, show a portfolio of projects that are not ours, quote a fixed price on a website, claim to be a certified installer for any product brand, or sell your phone number. This site is new. It says what it can do and nothing more.

What the contractor handles

• Structural crack repair: epoxy injection and carbon fibre stitching for cracks that are moving
• Bowing and leaning wall stabilization: carbon fibre straps, steel I-beam bracing, wall anchors, section rebuilds
• Underpinning and bench footings for basement lowering and for footings that need to go deeper
• Rubble-stone and early block foundation repair: repointing, rebuilding sections, sills and joist ends, liner walls
• Settlement repair with push piers and helical piers, lifted or stabilized as the engineer directs

What it does not handle

Keeping water out of a basement — exterior membranes, weeping tile, interior drainage systems, sump pumps, window wells and the sealing of cracks that leak but do not move — is a waterproofing contractor's trade and is not offered here, though it is often coordinated on the same job. Structural engineering is its own profession, and every design on this site comes from a professional engineer licensed through Professional Engineers Ontario. Zoning decisions, additional dwelling unit rules and building permits belong to the City of Kitchener or the municipality you are in. Work near the rivers and creeks may involve the Grand River Conservation Authority, and anyone on your property should be able to show current WSIB coverage. You will be told when a job belongs to someone else rather than sold something that will not fix it.

How this works

When you call 226-702-8653 or send the form, your details go straight to the foundation contractor's office. They arrange a visit to measure the crack, the wall or the floor, look at the outside of the house for what is loading the foundation, and then quote the work in writing with the method named and the engineer's design and building permit included where the job needs them. The work is done under their own insurance. Your information is not sold, not shared with a list of competing companies, and there is no markup added to your bill for the introduction.

What we won't do
